Cerro Negro or "Black Hill" is the birthplace of volcano boarding on earth. With transportation and boards provided by the guide company, all that's left to do is hike up and enjoy! The boards are heavy, but you can choose to pay to have it carried up by a strong local who does this for a living. The trail is completely exposed, wrapping up and around the back of the active volcano and its crater. Cerro Negro last erupted in 1999, and is monitored closely for signs of a looming eruption. You will have time to take in endless views from the summit before flying down on your specially-designed metal board. You can always drive yourself and do this hike without boarding, but you would be missing out on half of the fun.
